OWEN SOUND, SEPTEMBER WEDDING

One of my favourite getaways in Ontario which I discovered a few Septembers ago on another wedding, is Owen Sound. The majesty of Georgian Bay makes the 3.5 hour drive from downtown Toronto worth it- as the deepest royal blue waters unfolds before my eyes, I catch myself gasping every time. I feel the ancient-ness of these waters, something wild about them and deep yet serene- reminds me of the ocean and yet, it’s got it’s own specialness to it. I really can’t explain it but I love this location more than most for anything, especially weddings!

It was such a pleasure to meet Nikki, an incredible professional hairstylist and her twin sister Ashlee, also a hair stylist, when they came to my house for their bridal makeup trials. Although I’ve been doing wedding and red-carpet makeup for many years, it’s always a bit nerve wracking to do makeup for a professional in your industry! Sculpture is to hairstyling, as painting is to makeup artistry, and Nikki, aside from being a salon owner and incredible stylist, is also a talented hair-colourist. When she told me she was planning on dyeing her hair lavender for her wedding, I was truly excited!

When I arrived at Eagle Ridge Inn, the skies over the Bay were a bit moody and though it threatened rain, the sun peaked through for the ceremony, just as I was leaving- the perfect backdrop designed by Kendra Coons of Confetti & Co. to perfectly accent Nikki’s gorgeous lavender hair and matching gown by Toronto’s top wedding dress designer, Catherine Langlois.

Here are just a few of so many favourite photos, Nikki graciously shared with me from the day of. Enjoy!
